Gilchrist TX RV Parks

When looking for a beach rv park Gilchrist, TX. could be the perfect spot.
Gilchrist is a Texas resort and residential community off State Hwy 87 approx. 17 miles east of Bolivar Point in Galveston County.
Fishing in its waters is considered among the best in Texas, so some peeps come to Gilchrist beach rv parks just for that.
It is laid-back. This isn’t the place if you’re into the night life and fine dining.
It’s a great place to visit today, but Hurricane Ike hit on Sept. 13, 2008, and totally demolished the place.
We (hubby, kids and their friends, sister and her family) had just spent 5 days in Galveston the week before. It was crazy to imagine the place we’d stayed literally gone.
But that was a long time ago, and since then quite a few Gilchrist beach RV parks have sprung up along the Texas coastline.
We’ve listed them in alphabetical order.
Note: There are a small scattering of Gilchrist RV parks that we did not list. They either had a 3-star or less rating OR so little info we didn’t know what to tell you. The good news is there are several Gilchrist beach R V parks that you’ll love.

People talking about this Texas RV park:
- Can’t say enough great things about this place. Owner David was so wonderful. First time staying in a camper and this was so fun. We rented a cart for two days from him also.
- It’s quiet! Thankfully all you hear is the heartbeat hum of the barges. This is soothing compared to railroads and traffic. It’s a VERY small rv park full of mostly rental rv’s. The spaces are tight.
- Note: One reviewer mentioned a $45. cleaning few (a year ago.) She also said spaces are tight.
- This TX rv park has kayaks for FREE! You can crab & fish on location are you kidding me! This place is amazing.

More about Lena’s RV Park:
Here’s an interesting fact. Lena’s RV park only has 21 RV sites. So this is not one of those loud, crowded RV parks you might have stayed in.
They have a dog park, free Wi-Fi, and are located right across the street (see photo) from the water.
Reviews about this Gilchrist RV park, Lena’s RV Park:
- This place is beautiful and the owner is so nice! Great weekly and monthly rates as well. Right across from the beach and they even have covered rv sites.
- Two mentions of mosquitos – about a year ago – ‘Other than the mosquitoes this is a great place.’ And. ‘The grass is in dire need of a short cut to get rid of the mosquitoes.’ To which the owner replied: I am putting out deterrents. And keeping the grass short.
- This park is great, there’s a dog park, it’s directly across the street from the beach, and it’s gated! (Personally I don’t notice that it’s gated and they don’t reference on their website, so if that matters to you, ask first.)

What do people say about
:- This TX R V park is fab. The owners are so kind and attentive.
- They have a great pool, lounge, culture and atmosphere, highly recommend! Oh and you have to be here at twilight; just beautiful!
- The park is immaculately kept and pet friendly. Great amenities including a second story pool with gulf views one direction and inter-coastal water on the other side.
- We have been traveling full time in our rv for 3 months now and this place by far outweighs any positive experience we’ve had at a rv park.
- The club house is a must see where you can go up to the observation deck and watch the most beautiful sunsets.
Sun N Fun RV Park
Sun-N-Fun RV Park
720 TX-87, Gilchrist, TX 77617
409-203-3740
We wrap up our Gilchrist RV Park Guide with Sun-N-Fun RV Park.
They don’t have a website. SunNFunRVPark.com redirects to Campspot.com/book/sun-n-fun which is simply a booking page.
But because of their location, we decided to include. It’s right right across Hwy 87 from the Palapa RV Beach Resort. You can see the park on the Palapa photo located at the very top of this page. It’s the RV park directly on the beach.
Out of 11 reviews it has 5-stars:
- Park is right on the beach with a great view. Cart path is great to take golf carts or ATVs out on the beach.
- Great pads with full hookups and private access to the beach. Way closer to the beach than I was expecting.
- Nice getaway from the crowds of Galveston, yet wanted to be close to the beach. The fishing right off the point is great and a short walk from my campsite. It’s pretty quiet even this close to the ferry.
- The sites are generous with a nice size picnic area. Not so great reviews:
- Wear shoes cause lots of stickers (a couple of people mentioned this)
- Zero Amenities. Just the basic hookups.
- Too close to other RV’s.
Alrighty then.
